Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

O MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

It wasn’t for the first time that I stepped inside to pray.

The church was cool and empty, and I had so much to say.

But I barely said I love you when tears began to fall.

I tucked my face inside my veil, and waited for it all

But when at last the sobs were gone, I raised my head to see

The most Sacred Heart of Jesus was there in front of me.

“ O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,

I kneel before your throne.

I pray you wrap me in your arms,

And take me as your own!

Make my poor heart to beat like yours,

In union as if one.

Where want, and need, and worry melt,

And sin becomes undone.

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,

Who has loved men so much,

Grant now that I may live for You,

And honor You as such!
