Fear not my lass, my daughter mine,
I’m here for you ‘til end of time.
Though shadows fall and cast their spell
There will come change; all will be well.
‘Tis but a short time we are here,
Then ocean waves will bring him near.
Long since he left to go to sea,
Left Ireland’s home, left you and me.
Locked as we are into this storm,
I’ll keep you safe, I’ll keep you warm.
Until his love that we now lack,
Will not be lost when he comes back.
